MDF cut list optimizer: turn measurements into a plan
Set up a sheet, margins, blade kerf and shelf parts. Understand the calculation and check the layout.
Start with the sheet you actually have
Enter width and height in millimeters without rounding usable dimensions up. The shelf uses a 2,750 × 1,850 mm sheet, 18 mm thick, 10 mm margins on each edge and a 3.2 mm kerf. Its R$245 price is illustrative and editable.
Thickness identifies the material; placement is two-dimensional. Keep different materials and thicknesses in separate projects. After margins, the usable rectangle is 2,730 × 1,830 mm.
A small, verifiable cut list
Two 600 × 800 mm sides, three 564 × 300 mm shelves and one 600 × 350 mm top make six pieces totaling 1.6776 m². The gross sheet area is 5.0875 m²: piece utilization is 32.98%.
Utilization uses gross area so margins and kerf remain visible. Empty space is not automatically a useful offcut: minimum reusable width and height also matter.
Read the layout and cuts together
Each rectangle identifies a piece and its placed dimensions. Rotation swaps width and height. Grain-constrained pieces rotate only when the final orientation remains compatible with the sheet.
The sequence follows a tree of straight separations: cut the indicated region before its children. Check machine capacity, access and support. The app does not model clamps, physical squaring or workshop safety procedures.
